TBS Radio continues to rule the airwaves in the Tokyo metropolitan area, where it has held the top audience rating for 18 consecutive years since August 2001. It has also earned widespread support from listeners across Japan.
The weekday morning variety programs Takero Morimoto Standby! and Hikaru Ijuin and Radio and... recorded the highest ratings in their slots, as did the popular weekend programs Saturday Wide Radio TOKYO: Knights’ Chaki Chaki Show and Shinichiro Azumi’s Sunday Paradise. The evening program After 6 Junction, which looks deeply into a diverse array of genres and topics such as music, movies, books and games, and JUNK, which airs in the wee hours on weekdays and is hosted in rotation by widely admired celebrities, have also remained unwaveringly popular. Whatever the time or day, TBS is the undisputed king of radio in the metropolitan area.
The radio industry has undergone dramatic changes over the past few years, and we have introduced various services to attract new listeners. Our “radiko” Internet Protocol radio broadcasts allow users to listen to the past week’s programs at any time and post segments they enjoyed on social media to share with friends and acquaintances. In addition, we launched the free “TBS RADIO CLOUD” service, which lets users listen to our music content when and where they like. Listening to the radio on smart speakers is also becoming more common, yet another way radio is adapting to today’s modern lifestyles.
